After spending some time in Lusaka, I decided to take a trip to Livingstone with three of my friends. We wanted to visit Victoria Falls and explore the area around Livingstone. Instead of flying, we decided to get a driver to take us from Lusaka to Livingstone. We did this because we wanted to have a car available once we got there, which made it easier for us to get around and explore different places.

However, looking back, I would probably recommend doing things differently. The drive from Lusaka to Livingstone took us around 10 hours, which is a very long time to be in a car. It could probably be faster if you are driving yourself and going at a faster speed, but it was still a long journey. If I were doing the trip again, I would probably just fly to Livingstone and then use Yango or rent a car once I got there. This would save a lot of time while still giving you a way to get around once you arrive.

The main reason we went to Livingstone was, of course, to see Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls was absolutely beautiful and was probably one of the most impressive things I saw while I was in Zambia. The falls are so massive that it is difficult to even see the entire thing at once. When you are standing there, you can really understand just how big the falls are, and it is honestly much bigger than I expected.

There are a lot of different places to walk around and view the falls, so I would definitely recommend taking your time and exploring the area. One thing I would recommend is wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. There is so much mist coming from the falls that you can end up getting pretty wet while walking around. If you don’t want your clothes to get soaked, you can also bring a poncho or get one there.

One of my favorite moments was walking across the bridge near the falls. While I was crossing, I was able to see a full rainbow stretching across the water. It was one of those views that is hard to fully explain unless you see it yourself. You have the massive falls, the water rushing down, the mist everywhere, and then a full rainbow appearing over it. It was honestly a once-in-a-lifetime view.

There are also a lot of different activities you can do around Victoria Falls. If you are visiting, I would definitely recommend looking into white-water rafting. I would also recommend planning your trip around a time when you can visit Devil’s Pool. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do either of these during our trip, but Devil’s Pool is definitely something I wish we could have experienced. Being able to swim right at the edge of Victoria Falls looks like an incredible experience, and it would be one of the first things I would try to do if I went back.

Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting Livingstone and Victoria Falls. The falls themselves are incredible, but there is also a lot more to do in the area. Even though the drive from Lusaka was long, getting to see Victoria Falls made the trip worth it.
