I first learned about Beautify the Bike Path at Stevens Creek through Grassroots Ecology, and it immediately seemed like a great way to give back to the environment while spending time outdoors. The project focuses on cleaning up the bike path and creek by removing trash and invasive plants, helping to restore the natural habitat for local wildlife. Volunteers come together to make the area cleaner and healthier, making it a better space for both people and nature. It’s a simple but impactful way to make a difference, and I liked that I could be active while doing something meaningful.
One of the best parts of the project was working with others to pull a shopping cart out of the creek. It wasn’t easy—it took teamwork and effort—but it was really satisfying once we finally got it out. Another memorable moment was balancing on a log to get to the other side of the creek, where we found even more trash to clean up. It felt like an adventure while also being productive. I also enjoyed being able to bike to the site, work with a group, and see the impact we made by the end of the day. Beautify the Bike Path was a great way to spend the weekend—getting fresh air, moving around, and making the environment a little better.
